Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

At Common Earth, we believe meaningful learning is enriched when people with different experiences, cultures, identities, and perspectives come together in an environment of curiosity, respect, and openness. This commitment is reflected in our growing global community of alumni, which includes participants from more than 50 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas.

We are committed to creating a learning community where every participant feels welcomed, valued, and able to contribute fully. We welcome participants regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, culture, language, religion or belief, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, socioeconomic background, or any other aspect of identity.

Our work is grounded in the understanding that complex global challenges require diverse perspectives and thoughtful dialogue. We therefore seek to cultivate learning environments where differences are approached with curiosity rather than judgment, and where respectful disagreement becomes an opportunity for learning and growth.

We strive to:

  • Foster a culture of belonging where every participant is treated with dignity and respect.
  • Treat all participants, facilitators, staff, and partners fairly and equitably.
  • Encourage open dialogue that welcomes diverse perspectives while maintaining psychological safety.
  • Continuously identify and reduce barriers to participation and improve accessibility wherever reasonably possible.
  • Respond promptly and thoughtfully to concerns relating to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion.

We recognise that inclusion is an ongoing practice rather than a fixed achievement. As an organisation committed to continuous learning, we remain open to feedback and committed to continually improving our policies, programmes, and practices so that more people can participate meaningfully in the Common Earth learning experience.
